Reward Doubles For Information In Rash Of Pitt Co. Burglaries

The number of convenience store break-ins in Pitt County continues to grow and so does the reward to find the person or persons responsible.

Friday's break-in at JP Davenport and Sons store is the latest in the string of hole in the wall break-ins in Pitt County. The difference is no one cut into the back of the building, but instead broke into the back door.

Deputies say the suspects cut the wires to the alarm system and then broke into a metal and concrete safe that is so heavy, the owner actually built the building around it.

Investigators say this burglary is similar to more than a dozen others in the county, Greenville and other surrounding areas.

The reward has gone from $5,000 to $10,000 thanks to anonymous donors.
