Local IHOP restaurants serve up free pancakes for CMN donations

IHOP served up millions of free pancakes Tuesday, all in the name of benefiting the Children's Miracle Network.

The chain served free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes until 7 p.m. People were encouraged to make a donation to Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

Here in Eastern Carolina, the money raised goes to the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital.

We're told our local IHOPs have raised over $29k for local kids.

"None of us want to think about sick and injured children but unfortunately every day that's not the case," said Rhonda James, CMN director for the James and Connie Maynard Children's hopsital, "To be able to you know, come out today to support National Pancake Day, make a donation, know that your money is truly making a difference in the lives of kids."

WITN is a proud sponsor of the annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon which will be held on June 3 & 5th.

On March 8, 2016, pancake lovers nationwide will once again flock to their local IHOP restaurant to enjoy one free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in celebration of the brand's annual National Pancake Day.

From 7am to 7pm on March 8th, IHOP restaurants will give away millions of free pancakes.

Guests are asked to leave behind a voluntary donation for their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Shriners Hospital for Children and other local charities.

This year, IHOP aims to raise $3.5 million. All donations collected will remain in the local communities where they are raised and will be used to fund life-saving equipment, research, community outreach events and much more.

Prior to National Pancake Day, participating IHOP restaurants will sell "Miracle Balloons" for $1 and $5. Guests who purchase a $5 Miracle Balloon will receive a $5 discount coupon that can be used at their next visit.

There is a limit of one free short stack per guest. The offer is valid at participating restaurants for dine-in only while supplies last and is not valid with any other offer, special coupon or discount.
