Red Cross disaster volunteers responded on scene Monday night where a tornado touched down in Beaufort County.
Initial damage assessments were conducted and workers reported two homes destroyed and three with major damage in Pantego.
Red Cross caseworkers met with each of the families affected to support their initial emergency needs. Twelve residents were displaced but no injuries were reported. Everyone affected is currently staying with friends and family.
Tuesday morning, Red Cross volunteers will meet again with the families at their damaged homes to discuss disaster recovery plans and determine what assistance they will need.
Red Cross disaster mental health workers will also be on hand to provide emotional support and counseling.
