Three recent cases of rabies have been confirmed in Beaufort County.
Three rabid raccoons and the three pets they attacked had to be put down, and animal control is asking pet owners to make sure your animals are protected.
Beaufort County Animal Control director Sandy Woolard says in the past week officers have been called to three cases where raccoons attacked pets in residential areas in Pinetown and Bath.
Two dogs and a cat were attacked and they weren't vaccinated, so they had to be euthanize. The raccoons were also put down.
Beaufort County Animal Control will hold a clinic at the True Value store parking lot on Highway 92 February 4th from 1:00- 2:30 pm and will vaccinate pets for just seven-dollars.

There has been more animals than reported to the news--PLEASE get your pets shots on Sat. Bath & Pinetown have been hot & heavy with racoons that have turned out to have rabies.

I need to clarify a few points in this article. Unless there have been more cases of rabid raccoons on Possum Hill road this info is incorrect. My dog is the one who cornered the raccoon in our yard. She was NOT attacked nor has she been EUTHANIZED. She is sitting here at my feet as I type this. She was up to date on her shots but we were advised to get a booster which we did. To the ones who made the funny about the bath on the hill, we own the highest piece of property on this rd, which makes the joke even funnier!

Hey responsible animal owners.. here is a good chance to get your animal vaccinated at a low cost and protect their lives from a terrible disease. Thank you animal control and pamlico animal hospital for doing all you can do to protect the public and their pets!! You guys, girls and volunteers do not get the credit and praise you all deserve for the hard work and dedication.
