Community or curbside mail boxes would replace door delivery for millions of Americans, under a bill now moving through Congress.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee recently approved a plan to have the U.S. Postal Service convert 15 million addresses to communal or curbside mail boxes over the next decade. That move could save as much as $2 billion a year, by some estimates.
People with disabilities or who have trouble getting out could get waivers.
