Police: Surf City Hit & Run Suspect Caught Driving Down Same Road Next Day

Surf City Police say that they’ve arrested a man in connection with a Friday night hit and run that sent a person to a trauma center with serious injuries.

Officials say that they’ve arrested 24-year-old Michael Ramos of Dunn. Ramos has been charged with felony hit and run, careless and reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of heroin.

Police say that 48-year-old Lonnie Hedrick of Cary was walking along north New River Drive around 9 p.m. with another person when Ramos hit Hedrick with his car.

Police say on Saturday they spotted Ramos driving on New River Drive with a broken windshield and blood on his vehicle.

Hedrick was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and then later taken to a trauma center in Raleigh, according to officials. His current condition is unknown.

Police say Ramos is locked up in the Onslow County Jail.
