Greenville police say their Tactical Anti-Crime Unit patrolled the area near Kristin Dr. around 10:30 Saturday night when they heard shots fired.
Witnesses told officers that an argument broke out and one person ended up firing a gun into the air. Police say no one was hurt.
Police say that person is Melvin Blakely, 28, of Greenville.
He is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center, charged with discharging a firearm within city limits.
Blakely received a $1,000 unsecured bond.
