Greenville Man Jailed For Stabbing During Argument

A Greenville man is facing an assault charge for a late night stabbing incident.

According to the police, Jan Gilbert had been drinking Saturday night with his friend, Eddie Moore at 826 Fleming St. in Greenville. Police say the two began to argue leading to Moore being stabbed in the side rib cage area.

Police say once they arrived, Gilbert was still on the scene, and they were able to take him in without incident.

Moore was taken to the hospital, according to police. They did not immediately know his condition.

Gilbert is in the Pitt County Detention Center, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury. He is under a secured bond of $200,000.
