Teenage Robbery Suspect Surrenders To Onslow County Deputies

A teenager wanted for an armed robbery early this week, surrendered to Onslow County deputies Friday evening.

The Jacksonville Police Department says that 18-year-old Christopher Petteway, Jr. was served warrants by detectives around 7:00 Friday night. Petteway is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, felony possession of stolen property.

Police say around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, Petteway held up Emily’s Tobacco Shop in the Piney Green Shopping Center on Freedom Way.

Petteway is being held in the Onslow County Jail under a $80,750 secured bond.

Police are searching for a teenager they said robbed a local tobacco shop Tuesday night.

Officers were called to Emily's Tobacco Shop in the Piney Green Shopping Center in Jacksonville just before 8 p.m.

Police say 18-year-old Christopher Petteway came in and asked for cigarettes. They said he then pointed a revolver at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register.

Police set up a perimeter and searched for Petteway, but were not able to locate him.

Petteway is wanted for robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, felony possession of stolen property. He is considered armed and dangerous.
