Police in Atlantic Beach said it took some time to finish the investigation, but they have now filed charges in a wreck that took the life of a Raleigh woman on an Eastern North Carolina Highway.

Atlantic Beach Police said Tuesday they had filed a misdemeanor death by motor vehicle charge against Michael Bowden of Clinton, North Carolina on Monday. Police said Bowden was driving the 2008 Volvo tractor trailer, owned by Valley Proteins Incorporated, which hit and killed Sue Johnson.

Police said Johnson was using the marked and controlled crosswalk at West Fort Macon Road and West Drive just before noon on November 9th when Bowden was making a right turn and hit her. Johnson was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
