A third suspect in a crime that police say involved six suspects is now behind bars.
Rowainto Watson, 19, of Rocky Mount, was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center on Monday, according to records at the jail. Officials there tell WITN that Watson was transferred there from Edgecombe County.
Watson's bond was set at $50,000.
Watson is suspected to be one of six men who held up an ECU student on campus on December 1. The victim was robbed at 5th Street and Trustees Way at 11:30 p.m.
Another suspect remains at large. Travon Rice of Rocky Mount is also wanted in the crime. Police arrested two other suspects soon after the robbery and said they were working to identify two other men involved.
Greenville police say an arrest has been made in the armed robbery on ECU's campus that happened Saturday night.
Greenville police say Michael Wilson of Rocky Mount was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm on school grounds and possession of cocaine with the intent to sell among other charges.
Authorities say the robbery was reported to ECU police Saturday night. They say it happened at 5th Street and Trustees Way on ECU's Campus around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. They say the victim reported a man in a red hoodie robbed him at gunpoint.
Greenville officers say they located Wilson and say a search yielded the hoodie, a gun and money taken from the victim, and a quantity of cocaine.
Greenville Police are investigating the off campus robbery of an ECU student, according to a university wide alert sent out Saturday night.
The ECU Alert says that it happened Saturday at 11:25 p.m. at East 5th Street and Jarvis Street. The alert says that a male student was approached by six black males. One of the men took out a silver revolver handgun and pointed it at the student and demanded money according to the alert narrative. It goes on to say the man ran away west on 5th street towards the downtown area.
The suspect is described as being 5’10’’, 130 lbs, wearing a red hoody, short dread locks and no facial hair.
The alert says there is no description of the other men who are said to have taken no active role in the robbery.
