Pitt County Teacher Awarded Prestigious Fellowship

A Pitt County special education teacher has been awarded a prestigious fellowship.

Julia Brickhouse of Eastern Elementary School has been named a Kenan Fellow.

Brickhouse is one of 49 Kenan Fellows statewide selected from a pool of more than 230 North Carolina public school teachers.

Beginning in the fall, Brickhouse will engage in a fellowship project with other Kenan Fellows from across the state in an effort to develop training materials and videos to assist other educators.

Brickhouse helped establish a model classroom for the N.C. Department of Public Instruction deaf-blind model teaching site program.
