Pitt County Filipino-Americans Raise Money For Philippines Relief

Eastern Carolina came out to support local Filipino Americans raising money for their typhoon ravaged homeland.

Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church donated their resources to the Pitt County Filipino residents who held the fundraiser saturday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All of the funds raised will be sent to the Philippines to provide food, water and medical aid to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Chicken and pork dishes mixed with noodles were offered along with eggrolls, which are called "lumpia", along with dessert all for eight dollars a plate.

Organizer Marvin Casino tells us that they raised $10,000, much more than their goal of $3,000.
