Pitt County Expects Possible Record Voting For Municipal Election

Early voting is off to a strong start in counties where races are tight. Pitt County's election board is watching the numbers everyday and believe this municipal election could break records.

Pitt County's Board of Elections Director Dave Davis said Thursday there are only 2 precincts open so far and they've already seen more people cast ballots in the past 5 days than in both 2009 and 2011 municipal election combined for the same time period.

So far, more than 2,139 people have voted. We checked other elections boards. Beaufort County says its seeing a lower number of voters as of Thursday, while Onslow County says early voting is on par with the last municipal elections, Craven County has a steady number of voters.
