Pitt County Deputies Seize Poker Machines, Cash From Convenience Stores

Deputies, with the help of other law enforcement agencies, are looking this morning for poker machines they say are illegal.

Operation Pot O'Gold began around 9:00 a.m., headed up by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and Greenville police.

Lawmen are executing 29 search warrants throughout Pitt County looking for illegal poker machines.

Investigators have seized 78 machines and confiscated more than $33,000 in cash that was found in them.

Sheriff Neil Elks says the machines they are targeting are older gaming machines that could not be updated. He said they hope to seize around 80 machines.
