Pitt County Couple Hit With 700 Charges After Multi-Agency Investigation

A Pitt County couple is facing 700 charges after a multi-agency investigation that deputies say solved 20 break-ins.

Jose Santos and Mari Crumpler, both who live on Stantonsburg Road, were originally under investigation by Pitt County ABC agents.

They discovered a possible connection to business break-ins, so Pitt County deputies were brought into the case.

The two are accused of breaking into businesses on Dickinson Avenue, U.S. 13 and Frog Level Road, stealing gas tanks, propane cylinders, generators, and tools. Those B&Es happened between October 15th and November 15th, during both the day and night.

Pitt County ABC was investigating the couple for financial transaction fraud, obtaining information under false pretenses and identity fraud.

Santos is in the Wilson County Detention Center on $75,000 bond, while Crumpler is in the Pitt County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
