UPDATE: Troopers Charge Driver In Hwy 11 Sunday Afternoon Accident

Highway Patrol says that the 3 victims of a Sunday afternoon crash in Pitt County are lucky to be alive based on just how bad the cars were damaged.

Trooper M.M. Wiggs with Highway Patrol out of Pitt County says that 18-year-old Alexis Corey of Greenville was driving on NC 11 South, just north of Jolly Road, when she veered left and drove across the median into oncoming traffic, striking a passenger car driven by 34-year-old Laquada Abrom. We’re told the impact ripped the front end off of the car driven by Corey. 23-year-old David Williams of Kinston was in the passenger seat according to troopers.

Abrom was taken by EMS to Vidant Medical Center with what troopers describe as minor injuries. Corey and Williams are said to have gone to the hospital on their own.

Troopers say that Corey has been charged with reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane control.

Trooper Wiggs says that two witnesses say they saw the car driven by Corey driving erratically prior to the accident.
