Pitt County: Woman Uses Hammer In Domestic Altercation

A woman is in jail following a domestic argument.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office tells WITN that Jasmine Lewis was arguing with her partner at the intersection of Corbett Avenue and Azalea Street Saturday afternoon.

Lewis' girlfriend told authorities they were arguing over a cell phone. It's not clear why, but when Lewis' girlfriend turned to walk away, that is when she says Lewis hit her over the back of the head with a hammer.

Authorities say the injured woman refused medical treatment.

Lewis is the Pitt County Detention Center charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury. Her bond is $25,000.
