Pharmacist Arrested, Police Say 40,000 Pills Missing From Morehead City Drug Store

Deputies say more than 40,000 pills have turned up missing from a Morehead City pharmacy.

Carteret County deputies say Christine Parker of Newport, a pharmacist at that business, has been charged with pill diversion.

An audit showed the drugs were missing from Morehead City Drug Company on Arendell Street during the past year and a half.

The SBI and the North Carolina Pharmacy Board assisted in the four-month long investigation.

The 39-year-old pharmacist was charged with embezzlement of a controlled substance by employee and deputies say additional charges and arrests may be made.

Parker, who has worked at the pharmacy for the past four years, was released on a $2500 bond. Her license has been suspended and seized by the state.
