Penguin Plunge For A Good Cause

The water temperature at Atlantic Beach is a frigid 48 degrees this time of year. But that didn't stop hundreds of people from putting on their bathing suits and jumping in.

The 10th annual Penguin Plunge at Atlantic Beach in Carteret county was held around 1:00pm Tuesday.

Plungers ran into the Atlantic ocean and stayed in long enough to feel the sting of the icy water and then ran out. They're daring people, but also generous, since this adventure is all for a good cause.

By taking the plunge, they help raise money for local non-profit charities in Carteret county.
