POLICE: Serving A Warrant Led To Officer Assault

Police in Warsaw said while serving outstanding warrants on one woman, her boyfriend punched an officer in the nose.

Police Chief Mike Webster told WITN officers were serving a failure to comply warrant on Terri Cummings at 500 Yancey Road in Warsaw on Wednesday night. Officers said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the residence, along with Cumming's boyfriend, Kiwan Allen.

Webster said according to reports, Allen got in an altercation with officers as they were arresting Cummings, and Allen struck an officer in the nose. While the injuries that officer suffered were minor, police are consulting with the District Attorney regarding charges against Allen. Police are considering either a felony or misdemeanor charge of assault on a government official.

25-year-old Cummings is currently in the Duplin County Jail.
