The ride to school for several students in Plymouth Wednesday was anything but routine.
Plymouth police say pickup truck hit a school bus from behind as it was picking up children. The accident happened at the intersection of Wilson and Campbell St. in Plymouth around 6:40 a.m.
Police say the driver of the pickup truck reported looking down for just a second and seeing the bus slowing down in front of him when he looked back at the road. The driver of the pickup jammed on the brakes but could not stop fast enough to avoid hitting the bus, according to police.
About 20 students were on the bus, and police believe it was headed to Pines Elementary School.
Superintendent, Dr. Joe Davis, said none of the children on board were hospitalized. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt either.
Davis said the bus had minor scrapes.
Parents were notified of the accident, and Davis said the children made it to school about 10 minutes late.
Police say they're working to determine whether charges will be filed against the driver of the pickup truck.
