Police said they spent Friday morning alongside museum curators to pull an antique covered wagon from a creek bed after kids pushed it from the museum into the creek.
Grifton Police Chief Bryan Cauley said sometime overnight on Thursday, four kids between the ages of 12-14 managed to push a covered wagon, circa-1800's, from the Historical Museum and Indian Village of Grifton across the street and into a nearby creek.
"It's torn to two pieces right now," said Chief Cauley. "What's really hard is that this was in pretty good condition."
Cauley said while they had no surveillance of the roll-away, they tracked down the perpetrators.
Police said four children will soon be facing juvenile petitions from the police department.
