Police said they smelled marijuana coming from a car Thursday afternoon, but found cocaine and a gun on one of the people in that car.
Greenville Police said around 1:45 Thursday afternoon, officers spotted two people in a car near 2816 Best Road.
Investigators said they were suspicious of a drug deal, and officers approached the car and noticed a strong smell of pot.
Police said one of the people in the car, 19-year-old William Payton, had cocaine with him as well as a 9mm handgun.
Officers arrested the teen for a felony count possession of cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a handgun by a minor.
Payton is in jail under a $7,500 secured bond.
