Police say a woman made up that she had been robbed of her prescription pain killers while in the pharmacy parking lot.
Cynthia Anderson of Beaufort has been charged with filing a false police report.
Beaufort police say they were called around 9:30 p.m. Sunday about a robbery that had occurred at the CVS Pharmacy on Liveoak Street.
The victim told police that three people robbed her as she was walking to her vehicle. Anderson told police at one point she grabbed her pocketbook and hit one of the men in the head, causing them to run away.
But police checked the store's surveillance video which showed the woman walked to her vehicle without being robbed.
The 52-year-old woman has a first appearance later this month and was given a $1,000 unsecured bond.
