POLICE: Woman Charged After Toddler Burned With Hot Water

A two year old child is in the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill after police say he was burned with hot water.

Morehead City police have charged Julia Catjakis with intentional child abuse.

Police say the 22-year-old woman is the father's girlfriend and he was not home at the time.

Police got a call from Carteret General Hospital around 10:00 p.m. Friday after the toddler was found with 2nd degree burns on his left hand.

The woman was jailed on a $50,000 bond.
