POLICE: Man Gives Fake Name After Drug Arrest

A suspicious van backed into a wooded area led police to arrest a man on drug and stolen vehicle charges.

Kenansville police say an officer on patrol noticed the van Tuesday. The officer discovered the van was stolen from Lumberton and on the man they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine.

Police say the man at first gave them a fake name, but with help from Lumberton police they were able to identify him as Lindwood Clayburn. They say during the search Clayburn tried to destroy evidence by stomping on his crack pipe, nearly kicking the officer.

Clayburn has been charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist obstruct and delay, common law forgery, fictitious information, and maintaining a vehicle for keeping cocaine.
