Onslow County Schools To Make Redistricting Decision

The Onslow County School Board is scheduled to vote tonight on new attendance zones.

Three county schools, Richlands High School, Trexler Middle School and Carolina Forest Elementary, are overcrowded and driving the need to redistrict in Onslow County. Several options are on the table to change who goes to school where.

Some parents told WITN's Carly Swain, they're concerned about classes and friends being separated by the redistricting.

According to the Onslow County Schools website, these are the schools that could be impacted if any of the proposals are approved:

For high schools, Richlands, Southwest, Jacksonville, and Northside could see changes.

The middle schools are Trexler Middle, Southwest Middle, Northwoods Park Middle and Jacksonville Commons Middle School.

Three elementary schools could also be impacted. Carolina forest Elementary, Bell Fork Elementary and Morton Elementary.

Tonight's meeting will take place at Blue Creek Elementary in Jacksonville. It begins at 7 p.m.
