Onslow County Schools To Dip Into Fund Balance

Onslow County Schools will dip into the district's fund balance to supplement the budget this school year.

The board of education said Monday it approved the 2013-14 budget in a unanimous vote Thursday for about $49.1 million. County commissioners did not offer any additional funding, so the budget requires about $7-million from the fund balance reserves.

The Onslow County district is the 13th largest in the state with 37 schools.
