OFFICIALS: Adoptive Parents' Story About Missing NC Girl Not True

Law enforcement on the local, state and national level are teaming up to find a missing girl.

Erica Lynn Parsons was reported missing by her older adoptive brother on July 30.

He told investigators he had not seen the girl since November 2011 when she was 13.

Erica's adoptive parents, Sandy and Casey Parsons who lived near Charlotte, contend she went to live with her biological grandmother in Asheville and thus never filed a missing person report.

Erica's biological mother is related to the Parsonses and has said in published reports that neither she nor Erica's biological father have relatives in Asheville.

Investigators now say the story by the girl's adoptive parents is not true.

The Charlotte division of the FBI has released a photo that shows Erica at 13 and an age progression image done by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that shows what she might look like at 15.

Investigators are working to create a timeline to figure out when Erica was last seen.

Anyone with information on Erica’s whereabouts is asked to call the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700 or FBI Charlotte at 704-672-6100.
