North Carolina Wesleyan Student Arrested After Guns Found In Van, Racial Slurs In Dorm

A student at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount has been arrested after guns were found in his van on campus and racial slurs posted in his dorm room.

The college says campus officials called police this morning after a student was acting in a threatening manner and appeared to be heavily intoxicated in Petteway Hall.

The student, 22-year-old Matthew Price from Stantonsburg, was arrested on multiple felony counts. Rocky Mount police say Price was charged with three counts of felony possession of a firearm on educational property, and one count of possession of a weapon (a knife) on educational property.

In an email the college assured students, faculty and staff that while they can't discuss details of what happened, they won't tolerate anything that "disrupts or threatens the safety of this campus or any of our students, faculty or staff.”

Police say Price was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond and Wesleyan says he will not be allowed to return to campus.
