Prosecutors have determined they won't be charging a man who shot and killed a copper thief.
The News & Record of Greensboro reports (http://bit.ly/19MvYSb ) that Rockingham County District Attorney Phil Berger Jr. said Friday he would not be bringing charges against Steve Hall.
Hall shot and killed Jesse Ray Walker at about 3 a.m. on July 8. Authorities say Walker was carrying copper wire away from Hall's Reidsville business.
Hall lives next door to his plumbing business. Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page says Hall woke up when an alarm went off, grabbed a shotgun and went outside.
Authorities say Hall shot at Walker after the man charged at him.
