Nicholas Sparks Foundation Celebrity Family Weekend

Ready to mingle with celebrities and support great causes? You will get your chance this weekend as the Nicholas Sparks Foundation holds a "Celebrity Family Weekend."

Celebrities will be in New Bern for a packed weekend, including lunch with Nicholas Sparks, a Family Fun Night, a golf tournament, a 5K run and much more. There's even a chance to have brunch with Sparks at his home.

The foundation supports several great causes, including global education initiatives through the Epiphany School in New Bern, wounded warriors through Hope for the Warriors and Assistance Dogs for people with disability through Paws With a Cause.

Also part of the weekend: the screening of the new Warner Bros. movie "The Lucky One," which is based on one of the author's novels. The screening is invitation only. Many of the attendees will be military members and their families.

"I'm excited to welcome my fans from far and near to join us to help raise awareness and funds for the charities my family and I cherish so deeply," said Sparks. "Beyond the events, I know people will enjoy all that New Bern has to offer."

Friday, April 20
11 a.m. - Lunch with Nicholas Sparks, New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Tickets: $250

5 p.m. - Family Fun Night, New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Celebrities, picnic supper, games, arts, crafts, dancing. Tickets: $35. Children free, age 3 and under.

8 p.m. - Red carpet arrival of celebrities for special screening of "The Lucky One," New Bern Civic Theater. Outside activities open to public, 9 p.m. screening by invitation.

Saturday, April 21:
9:30 a.m. - Celebrity Golf Tournament, New Bern Golf and Country Club. Foursome to play, $6,000. Gallery pass, $25.

Sunday, April 22:
9 a.m. - 5K race, mile fun run, New Bern High School. $30 for 5K, $20 for fun run. Entry increased $10 after March 31. Mingle inside the track, $20

11 a.m. - Brunch at the Sparks home. Tickets: $1,250

In addition to the events listed above, there will also be a film festival featuring all of the movies based on Sparks's novels.
