New Year's Golf Ball Drop Raises $5,000 For Red Cross

In an effort to continue providing disaster relief services to people in their community, the Red Cross of Onslow County dropped a thousand numbered golf balls and raised thousands of dollars.

Friday at Swingin Things in Jacksonville, the American Red Cross of Onslow County hosted a golf ball drop to help raise money for their local chapter. In just the past week, officials say they responded to two serious house fires and the funds raised through this event will allow them to continue providing disaster relief services to people in the area.

The event raised about $5,000 for the disaster relief program of the Onslow County chapter.
