New River's Change of Command

By Wednesday morning, New River Air Station will be under new leadership.

The base said at 9 a.m., Colonel Mitch Cassell will be relinquishing command to Colonel Timothy Salmon.

According to the II Marine Expeditionary Force web page, Colonel Salmon enlisted as a Marine Corps Reservist in 1982.

Since his enlistment, Salmon has deployed to the Western Pacific, the Persian Gulf, and recently to Afghanistan.

Col. Salmon is currently the Acting Commanding Officer for II MEF Headquarters Group.
