New Pitt County Superintendent Attends First Board Meeting

The new Pitt County school superintendent ran his first school board meeting Monday.

Dr. Ethan Lenker replaced Dr. Beverly Emory who is now the superintendent of Forsythe County Schools in Winston-Salem.

Dr. Lenker says, "I'm just trying to meet as many people as possible obviously, get into as many schools as possible. I've been to about half so far, still got another 18 to go or so. It's taking quite awhile but I'm trying to get into as many classrooms and talk to teachers directly to see what's going on."

Dr. Lenker served as a superintendent for Sampson County schools since 2008 before he came to Pitt County.
