There's a new sheriff in town as a veteran lawman moved up to the top spot in Lenoir County today.
Chris Hill was sworn in as sheriff this morning at the Lenoir County Courthouse.
Hill replaces Billy Smith who announced his retirement back in February after 24 years.
Hill, who had been chief deputy, has worked for the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office for the past 30 years. He promises some changes, including technology upgrades at the Sheriff's Office.
As interim sheriff, Hill says he plans to seek a full term next year.
