New Bridge Middle Students Learn About Science, Math With Mock Trial

A local middle school spent the day in court Friday. New Bridge Middle School conducted a mock trial about a real case from the Onslow County Sheriffs Office.

The project started a few weeks ago in their social studies, science and math classes. Teachers set up a crime scene and the kids got to be the investigators. They combined their skills from all three subjects to do blood splatter analysis, blood typing, and learn about court cases.

The kids learned about opening statements, closing statements, questions for the prosecution and cross examining. They put it all to use in Onslow County courtroom number one Friday, and in between a few laughs they did a great job according to their teachers.
