New Bern Man Sentenced To 8-10 Years For Selling Pot, Pills

Selling pot and prescription pills got 54-year-old Elbert Snipes of New Bern 8-10 years in prison.

Snipes pleaded guilty in Craven County this week to a string of drug offenses including selling marijuana, trafficking opium, possession of oxycodone with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of dhydrocodeinone with intent to sell. He was sentenced to up to a decade in prison and ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.

Deputies say they saw Snipes selling marijuana to someone, and when they searched him they found 6 bags of marijuana and prescription drugs. Officials say he has a long criminal history.
