NEW INFO: Teen Arrested, Gun Seized After Overnight Chase

By  |

Deputies said a 15 and 16-year-old lead them on an early morning chase Friday from a high school parking lot to the front yard of a Pitt County home.

The teen behind the wheel, 16-year-old Malik Ore, has been charged with fleeing to elude arrest, according to investigators.

Deputies said Ore and a 15-year old, whose name has not yet been released, were parked behind D.H. Conley High School when they spotted an officer on a routine patrol.

Deputies said the teens took off in the black Toyota Tundra and lead them on a chase from the school down Eastern Pines Road.

While speeds did not top 60 miles per hour, deputies said they had to use stop sticks to stop the teens.

The two front tires of the truck were hit by the sticks, and deputies said they arrested Ore while the 15-year-old was turned over to his mother.

Investigators said they found both a black handgun and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The truck is owned by one of the teen's guardians, according to deputies.

The driver will be charged with fleeing to elude arrest.

No word yet on potential charges for the passenger.
