NEW INFO: Armed Robbery At Greenville Movie Theater

Police say two employees were robbed at gunpoint at a Greenville movie theater from overnight.

Police got the call at 1:11 Monday morning at Carmike Cinema.

Police say the suspect stole a money bag and took off on foot.

No one was injured.

The search for a suspect continues.


Greenville Police say two movie theater employees were robbed at gunpoint.

At 1:30 a.m., WITN was at the Carmike Cinema as police cars, Sheriff's Office patrol units, and a canine unit arrived to search the area.

Officers fanned out beyond just the parking lot and were combing through nearby neighborhoods and business complexes.

No word yet on the number of suspects in this case or if anyone was injured.

We're gathering details on an overnight incident at a movie theater that called out multiple officers and a county canine unit.

WITN was on the scene as Greenville Police and Pitt County Sheriff's deputies were combing over the area of the Carmike Cinema on East Fire Tower Road.

A K-9 unit from the sheriff's office sniffed out part of the front entrance to the cinema before moving around to the street-side of the building around 1:30 a.m.

Multiple officers were seen roaming residential and business streets in the area.

Greenville police have not yet confirmed what happened at or near the cinema.
