Fire investigators say a fire that damaged an unoccupied home in Greenville this morning was intentionally set.
Fire crews said they were called to the house fire in the 1300 block of Myrtle Street around 4:15 Friday morning.
Flames were coming out of the single story home and firefighters got the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.
Battalion Chief Shannon Terry says there was no electrical or gas service to the home since June 18th.
The home is owned by Benny Roundtree, who is former state president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
Terry says a dog was found at the property and it was turned over to Animal Control officers.
While the fire has been ruled intentionally set, investigators have labeled the fire cause as undetermined.
