NAACP Seeks Collaboration With New Governor

Members of the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP are asking Gov.-elect Pat McCrory to collaborate with them after he takes office in January.

NAACP leaders from across the state and the state president, the Rev. William Barber, have scheduled a news conference for Saturday in Durham. The NAACP said it will renew its request to meet with McCrory before he's inaugurated.

Leaders say they want to remind the Republican governor-elect that the NAACP and the GOP have worked together in the past to advance racial equality and economic justice.

NAACP leaders say they'll also raise questions about judges who they believe are too extreme.

Barber says McCrory should focus on an agenda that moves North Carolina forward, including economic sustainability and educational equality.
