A surge of much warmer air is moving into eastern Carolina Tuesday ahead of a cold front. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s in most communities, with slightly cooler readings along the coast. The front will cross the area Tuesday evening bringing a few showers and thunderstorms. The risk of severe weather is low but we'll continue to monitor the trends through the passage of the front.
Cooler and drier air will follow the front on Wednesday. Afternoon highs both Wednesday and Thursday will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s under sunny skies.
