Mount Olive Man Killed In Sampson County Accident

The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that was just outside of Duplin County in Sampson County.

Troopers say that 27-year-old Jamal Wright of Mount Olive was traveling east on Brewer Road, just over a mile from Faison, and a 10th of a mile from the Duplin County line, when he ran off the road to the right, over corrected, struck a ditch, then overturned several times in a field. Wright died at the scene according to officials.

It’s believed speed was a factor in the accident. Wright was said to have not been belted in.

A toxicology report is pending.
