Mother, Three Kids Lose Everything In Onslow Co. Fire

A mother and her three children lost everything in a fire on the day before Thanksgiving.

Onslow County Fire Marshal Brian Kelly says the mobile home was a total loss from the 8:45 a.m. fire. The home was located on Burgaw Highway outside of Jacksonville.

Kelly says the accidental fire began in one of the children's bedrooms, but the damage was so bad they won't be able to determine exactly what caused the fire. He says the family woke and and smelled smoke, felt the fire's heat and safely evacuated.

The girls are 15, 13, 10 years old.

The family has no renters insurance. The Red Cross is helping them, while the mobile home park manager is moving the family into another rental. Fortunately, the woman's mother lives in town so they'll be spending Thanksgiving with her.
