Morning Road Report: Streets Drying Out, Dicey To The West

No snow accumulated in nearly all of Eastern Carolina, but there was still the concern about icy roads after so much rain fell overnight while temperatures dropped.

WITN's Lynnette Taylor reports streets in Greenville were just wet before sunrise this morning but were quickly drying out. That's thanks to clearing skies and gusting winds, according to Meteorologist Jim Howard.

The possibility of slick roads exists in some northern areas, especially on bridges and overpasses. Halifax and Northampton Counties report clear roads with possibly icy spots.

Lynnette checked in with the DOT in Pitt County, which put its crews on standby Thursday night. All of their trucks were still parked in their places early Friday.

People headed west of I-95, however, could face serious traffic troubles in the Triangle. There are reports of very icy conditions in the Raleigh area, causing an onslaught of traffic accidents.
