Tree Knocks Out Power To More Than 6,000 Tideland EMC Customers

A falling tree knocked out power to more than 6,000 customers in Eastern Carolina Sunday.

It happened about 10:45 a.m. at the Silverhill substation in the Pamlico County town of Grantsboro.

Tideland reports the tree damaged two circuits. The power outage affected much of Pamlico County and parts of Craven County.

As of 1:00 p.m., power had been restored to Tideland EMC customers in Pamlico County. About 2,200 customers in the Fairfield Harbour and Broad Creek Road areas of Craven County were still without electricity. Tideland crews are working on the issue. It's hoped all power will be restored within the next hour or hour and a half.
