NEW INFO: Moped Driver In Critical Condition

The man airlifted from a moped and vehicle wreck on Sunday night is still in the hospital.

Trooper Scott Casner with the Highway Patrol said 35-year-old Ryan Evertte is in critical condition at Vidant Medical Center.

Troopers said 19-year-old Michael Sides of Havelock was heading north on Greenfield Heights Boulevard Sunday night when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone.

Investigators said Sides' car hit Ryan Everette's moped head-on. The 35-year-old Havelock man was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.

Sides was charged with reckless driving.
