A home in Moore County has burned down while the county's 911 system was not working.
A neighbor told WRAL-TV (http://bit.ly/13ZDYgc ) that he tried to call 911 early Sunday but got no answer. He also couldn't get anyone to answer an emergency number at the sheriff's office. He finally called "(asterisk)HP" and the highway patrol got a message to the fire department.
The neighbor says it took about 15 minutes to get a fire truck to the home in Vass even though the nearest fire station is 2 miles away.
No one was inside the house, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities say the 911 system in Moore County was down for about three hours. They are investigating what happened with the system.
